The Tunisian State, concerned to grant to the consumer the required protection inside an economy more and more open and ruled by the market mechanisms, was a pioneer in the matter of making laws defining the rights and the obligations of the intervening parties in the economic life. Consequently, several laws were promulgated particularly since the November 7th, 1987:
»Law 91-44 of July 1st, 1991 organising the commerce and the distribution;
»Law 91-64 of July 1st, 1991 related to the competition and the prices;
»Law 92-117 Of December 7th, 1992 related to the protection of the consumer;
»Law 94-41 of March 7th, 1994 related to the external commerce;
»Law 94-86 of July 23rd, 1994 related to the distribution networks of the agricultural and fishing products;
»Law 97-46 of July 14th, 1997 related to the time share tourist accommodation;
»Law 98-17 of February 23rd, 1998 related to the prevention against the misdeeds of smoking;
»Law 98-39 of June 2nd, 1998 related to sales with easy terms;
»Law 98-40 of June 2nd,1998 related to the sales techniques and commercial advertising;
»Law 99-40 of May 10th, 1999 related to the legal measurement science;
»Law 02-62 of July 9th, 2002 related to leisure games.
Moreover, a wide place was granted to the O.D.C in the different instances, councils and commissions in relation with the consumption.
The O.D.C expresses its opinions regarding the normalisation and participates to different commissions charged to up date the legislation of competition and distribution networks.
